In order to ensure a successful start to your academic career at the University of Colorado Denver (UCD), all new international students in F or J visa classification, including immigration transfers from other institutions within the US, are required to attend a mandatory Check-In and Essentials Session.

(NOTE: A "hold" is automatically placed on your registration for classes until you sign up to attend one of these sessions. Once you sign up, the "hold" will be lifted. However, if you do not show up for the session, the "hold" will be placed back on your student account, preventing you from registering for classes in the future.)

The sessions are designed to facilitate your successful start at UCD! We want to use this time to welcome you, to get to know you, and to share with you some essential information. 

During the session, ISSS staff will be collecting documents and information from you that are required in order to report critical information to the US Department of Homeland Security regarding your arrival and your program of study. In addition, the session is designed to educate new students regarding immigration regulations that relate to their period of stay in the US. Also, students will be provided with information about campus services, how to obtain US social security cards and driver’s licenses, cultural adjustment issues, health services and insurance, academic advising, and more. 

Please remember to bring with you to the Check-In & Essentials Session the check-in form(s) available on the ISSS Web site at http://international.ucdenver.edu/ISSS. You must present the check-in form(s) in order to enter the session.  We also ask that you arrive promptly at the start time. Those who arrive late will need to reschedule for another session.

Failure to attend this session or otherwise failing to check in with ISSS prior to the start of your academic program may result in the loss of your legal status in the United States.
